One of my favorite parts of starting the day is when I wake up and realize I get to make a nutrient-packed green smoothie. It kickstarts the digestive processes after ending a 12-15 hour fast and sets me up for energy success with protein, fat, healthy carbs and fiber that carry me through a busy day.
My smoothies have evolved over the years as I am constantly tweaking them for flavor and trying out new superfood ingredients because I want them to not only taste delicious, but to pack a nutritional punch.
So, I thought I would share my latest go-to with you…try it and let me know if you like it!
Power Up Superfood Smoothie
(Be sure to use fresh, organic ingredients)
¼ cup Blueberries
Handful of Baby Spinach (or use whatever greens you have on hand)
2 Tbsp. Ground Flaxseed Meal
1 Tbsp. Peanut Butter Powder (skip if you have a peanut allergy!)
1 Tbsp. Unsweetened Coconut Flakes
1 Tbsp. Cacao Powder (not cocoa powder)
1 Tbsp. Chia Seeds
½-⅓ cup Plain, Unsweetened Kefir
½-⅓ cup Coconut Water
½-⅓ cup Unsweetened, Vanilla Almond Milk
(Click the ingredients to link to the many health benefits of each one and be further inspired!)
Thoroughly blend all of the ingredients except for the chia seeds. (I use an immersion blender stick, which I love:))
After blending, mix in the chia seeds and enjoy!!!
